dupreeh: "It's not like I'm done winning just because I win my fifth Major"

Now the most decorated player in CS:GO Major history, Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen still thinks he has more left in the tank.
dupreeh has been a constant in the upper echelons of the competitive CS:GO scene for nearly 10 years, having made it to the quarter-finals of the very first Major, DreamHack Winter 2013. Along the way he has collected a litany of trophies few can match, as well as seven HLTV top 20 appearances.
Recent times might have seen dupreeh settle into being more of a role player for Vitality, but he stepped up his level when it counted most and contributed magnificently to Vitality's historic Major victory, securing a record-breaking fifth Major title for himself in the process.

As the the confetti was being swept away and the fans were filing out to celebrate into the night, dupreeh took a moment with HLTV to talk about his thoughts and emotions after what must have been a whirlwind couple of weeks for the legendary Dane.
You said five Majors wasn't necessarily what your focus was on, but it was something you wanted. How does it feel to actually have it now?
It's just unreal. When I joined Vitality, I set an individual goal for myself that I wanted to achieve winning one more Major, because I knew that if I could win one with a new team, I would be the one with the most Majors since I was no longer playing together with my old friends in Astralis.
I'm still alongside Magisk and he gets his fourth since he didn't win the first one with me so of course it's crazy, but I wanted to create more history for myself, and I'm glad I achieved that today.
A record that no one else will be able to beat in CS:GO. How does that feel?
Of course in that sense it's nice, knowing that CS:GO is ending, but on the other hand it's also sad that it's coming to an end. But this is a perfect way of ending it, and of course CS2 is just around the corner, and I'm very excited to play that one as well. I'm glad I can have that record on my own, and that I know that no one will ever be close to touching it.
You said that when you joined Vitality, this was a goal that you set for yourself, to win ONE more Major. Does that mean that you don't have a goal to win more right now?
Of course if I get the opportunity to win more Majors, I'm definitely going for it. It's not like I'm done winning just because I win my fifth Major and set a new record. It's more that now I've achieved something that no one else has achieved, and of course that's been on my mind for a while.
I've been trying to downplay it a little bit at this tournament because I didn't want it to shake my focus, but now I'm in a situation where... I did achieve this and now there are new goals to accomplish, but this was the main goal and I think this is the biggest goal that I will probably ever achieve in my career.
Winning this Major was a goal that all of Vitality set out to do at the start of the year, you said that it's been quite hard with the amount of media, the amount of practice and everything. Is it a bit of a relief to have it over with, or are you looking forward to what you can do now?
It's definitely a relief. It's a mix of being super happy but also relieved because these two weeks that we've been playing, there was so much pressure on you. Of course we've gone through flawless, so in that sense we've also got quite a lot of time off. We've set everything up perfectly for the team, but at the same time knowing that you have to go here and everyone expects- Oh, and also with how the playoff bracket has evolved.
If you would have asked me coming into the quarter-final, you're going up against Into the Breach, then going up against Apeks, then in the grand final you'll go up against GamerLegion... someone would have to pinch my arm. Because sure on paper that is inexperienced players, but they're also players for the future, and I think could definitely see that today. I think we won out of experience today, 100%,
if you saw how GamerLegion performed against Heroic yesterday. They did some things really well. It's a big, big, big achievement for what we've done, and I'm just so happy and I'm just relieved that we finally managed to do it! It was such a big goal for the whole team, and now we're just going to find a new goal, because that's what most important now.
What's next for you now?
Ha! Probably going to go on a boat, the Vitality boat, get drunk. Then we'll have some stuff tomorrow, and then I'll go home with my family on Tuesday and get some rest until we go to Washington.
A little more long-term?
Uhhh... have a nice vacation [laughs].
